Guided Walk – Illey Wilderness Trail

Join us for a guided walk in the beautiful Illey countryside. Take a trip back into deep time to discover relics from the Ice Age!
Find out about the Ice Age Heritage in the Illey countryside. We will visit some fine specimens of glacial erratic boulders, which travelled here during the Ice Age about 450 thousand years ago! We will also consider the underlying geology and surrounding landscape. The walk will be led by a knowledgeable guide from the Birmingham’s Erratic Boulders – Heritage of the Ice Age Project. Free trail leaflets will be available on the day.
The trail is 5.5 miles long. There is some rough ground, and the path can be slippery in wet weather. We will cross several stiles, some of which are quite high. Stout footwear is required. Please bring a packed lunch or obtain food at the Black Horse Inn, Illey.
